Rough Cut - Miss Georgiou

Audience feedback is important to a production because it allows the group and I to know what our target audience wants, thus we are able to adjust our sequence to make it more conventional and please our audience. A rough cut is essential to have because it gives us a rough estimation on what our sequence currently is and gives the audience the chance to interact with us and share their feedback on what to change before its too late in the production.

The group and I received feedback from our target audience via screening of production; this is where we allowed other people to watch our sequence so that they could give their input on it and help the group make our production favour our target audience. A focus group is a gathering where everyone watches our sequence and gives feedback, similar to the screening of the production, however the feedback is more constructive. We also got feedback from questionnaires, this is one of the most effective ways because the feedback we got was feedback in which we were looking to improve because we chose the open and closed questions that our audience had to answer. All this feedback helped the group and I to make a conventional thriller because it allowed us to know what our audience want from us and what they expect to see, thus including it and making our target audience engaged. This rough cut would help the film industry because it would mean that we would get feedback from people in the film industry; film fanatics. This is very helpful because the feedback will be from a professional view and when we release the full film it will benefit us and the film industry.

We have gotten constructive comments on YouTube, the group and I will take this on board by adjusting our sequence to please our audience. For example we will take out the circus music at the end of our sequence because Liv Burke said that it was out of context and that it isn't conventional to the thriller genre, we will instead have a more conventional and suspenseful background music to engage the audience. John Mavideniz has also said that the group and I should use a wider range of camera shots, however the group and I will not be able to do this because we have a set due date for the sequence to be handed in by thus we are unable to reshoot the scenes, however we will try and adjust them through the editing stage to make them as conventional as possible. Sashmarie98 said that we should make some of the scenes dimmer, for example we could add an effect in the scenes where were outside such as the effect "Cool Tones" to give it a dark blue look however still making it look realistic. Although we tried to make the scene have natural lighting it seems that our audience didn't like it and preferred to have an effect over this; I think that this is a good idea as the dimmed lights could reflect the antagonist's dark behaviour.

On the other hand, the group and I also received positive comments such as from John Mavideniz - " I think this is a good thriller sequence with good use of editing". This helped the group and I because we know that our editing skills are plausible, which tells us that our audiences like the sequence. Sashmarie98 - "Really liked the storyline, I think that it is very conventional to a thriller and I love the sounds that were used especially the heartbeat sound". This has helped boost the moral of our group because it is reassuring to know that our audience enjoyed hearing the conventional sounds we applied to our sequence. Luca Khan - "This sequence is very thrilling and suspenseful". The group and I are pleased to hear that our sequence is thrilling and suspenseful because these are the main elements which make a thriller, thus it tells the group and I that we have successfully created a conventional thriller sequence. As a whole, this has helped the group and I gain confidence and helped us realise that our editing skills and camerawork is plausible, which would be appreciated in the film industry.

To conclude, from the feed back that the group and I had received, we have come to a conclusion to take on board most of the things that were mentioned, however the ones we have decided to leave out are the ones that involve us reshooting scenes, this is something that we cannot do because we have a set due date for our sequence to be handed on by, thus not having time to do so. However, we will change the lighting in different places to make it dimmer so that it is more conventional to the thriller genre and we will also get rid of the circus music at the end of the sequence because it is out of context and makes the scene less conventional. Hopefully if we apply all these changes it will make our sequence a lot more conventional and will please our audience a lot more too.
